The mission of the Dyslexia Tutoring Program is to teach low-income children and adults with dyslexia or a language-based learning disability to read. This is accomplished through
a professional screening
assessment and
tutoring by volunteers
whom we have
trained in The
Orton-Gillingham
method of reading,
writing, and spelling.

Tutor Training Classes

Event Date: April 24, 2017

Our course is offered FREE of charge to those who commit to 60 hours of tutoring. Tutors meet with their students at least once a week, for 1 to 1 ½ hour sessions

Training courses typically consist of 9 consecutive 2 ½ hour classes. DTP will supply the tutoring and training materials for all tutors. Your instructor will inform you of any additional materials needed. Please bring a pen and paper to take notes during class.

After receiving your completed application, all volunteers must come to our office for a brief interview with the Education Coordinator PRIOR to the first scheduled day of training. Potential tutors will also need to provide a list of references and will be subject to a criminal background check at DTP's expense.
